Internal Medicine Residency Manager

As a renal dietitian of 13 years, I empowered a culturally-diverse patient population to take control of their health via interactive education utilizing motivational interviewing techniques. I strived to provide individualized interventions that met kidney care goals, while also honoring quality of life, learning style, culture, and socioeconomic status for countless patients surviving on dialysis. In addition to motivating patients, I thrive in leading and inspiring teammates and fellow dietitians. I managed interdisciplinary team meetings and was a key player in patient-centered care initiatives. During my 8 years as Region Point Dietitian, I encouraged collaboration and continuous learning, leading nine dietitians towards Village goals. I've acted as a preceptor to 10 dietetic interns, providing education and coaching.

As an outpatient dietitian, I provided education and goal-setting for patients experiencing excess weight, diabetes, chronic kidney disease, and hypertension. Individualized education was tailored to the patient, considering disease state, health literacy level, learning style, culture, and socioeconomic status to maximize positive health outcomes.

I consulted for 11 long-term care facilities during my tenure as a long-term care consultant. In addition to evaluating the nutrition status and needs of each resident, I also performed quality control evaluations of the dietary department. I provided in-services to dietary staff to ensure sanitation and food service met regulatory guidelines, utilizing a coaching leadership style to encourage and empower staff to adhere.
