I am an honors electrical engineering student and undergraduate research assistant at the University of Akron. I was also fortunate enough to complete a co-op rotation with GPD Group, an engineering design firm, in their power group. I love being an engineer because it allows me to be a lifelong learner and collaborative team member. Especially as a young engineer, I love learning from the experience of my team members, and I can often be found asking my professors, coworkers, and classmates questions! I am driven by the feeling of accomplishment after overcoming a challenge, and I believe that challenges are best solved by a team. At GPD, I learned how important it is to communicate with the people around me, which was easy with a group of about 20 engineers and project managers who were always happy to help! As a research assistant on a small team, I have carried this lesson with me. I am always seeking out information from industry professionals, researchers, equipment manufacturers, and faculty members. To me, innovation starts and ends with communication, and everything in between is achieved with hard work!
