As one of the earliest members of the Business Intelligence Tools team in Strategic Finance, I have worked alongside my manager and director over the last 2+ years to help make our team a respected source for financial and operational data reporting and analytics. I have delivered numerous Tableau dashboards to help further leadership objectives and I work endlessly to provide value through well-constructed, user-friendly visualizations designed to enable users to quickly pinpoint key take-aways from their data so they spend less time hunting for trends and more time as decision-makers and actors. During my time as a senior analyst, one of my largest projects was taking a lead role in coordinating a cross-functional and cross-departmental team of developers, report writers, clinical informaticists, data analysts, and stakeholders and leaders to collect Ascension's first enterprise-wide surgical and surgical scheduling data set. I created initial requirements documentation and profiling/validation scripts, and coordinated meetings with technical staff spanning 22 ministries and six electronic health record systems to bring the appropriate data to a central repository. As the primary user of the data thus far, I have built multiple national-level reports, including the Mission-inspired Transformation (MiT) Surgical - Operational KPIs dashboard, which currently has 500+ unique users, averages approximately 600 views per month, and is being pushed by several Ascension leaders as the source of truth for OR performance indicators.

Reliable data and analytics drive the decision-making that will help us achieve these goals.As the Lead Business Analyst within Data & Insights (AIS), I aided in the development of data and analytics products in support of the Quadruple Aim. I worked directly with stakeholders to identify business needs and define appropriate scoping and requirements. I coordinated with specialists across multiple teams that ranged from leadership to data scientists, subject matter experts, ETL team members and more as needed per project. On a daily basis, I leveraged my experience in research methodologies and my years of training in quantitative analysis to advise on the direction of our analytic products. With technical experience in R and Tableau, and more recently-acquired skills in SQL/HiveQL querying and data extraction, I often stepped in to play multiple roles on projects, including developer, modeler, and dashboard designer to keep them moving.Data & Insights was a relatively new branch within AIS. As such, we were constantly growing and changing, which presented several challenges for our group. As team lead, I worked hand-in-hand with my manager to ensure that my fellow business and clinical analysts were supported in their roles and responsibilities. I worked with my colleagues to navigate and anticipate shifts and I relied on my experience and training to help them provide additional value for their stakeholders. In addition to advising and shadowing on meetings, I coordinated technical training sessions, outings, and other activities to expand their proficiency and confidence.

As team lead for Data Dissemination, I contributed to the scope, development, and initial launch of Texas Health Data (healthdata.dshs.texas.gov), an interactive public health data visualization and query system using Tableau. For this effort, I coordinated with numerous functional teams and researched historical user feedback and data requests to identify requirements and solutions for launch and expansion. I was responsible for researching current public health data offerings and prevailing theories in data visualization and dashboard creation to define module components, appropriate data presentation, and style guides. I designed, built, and published data visualizations and query modules using Tableau, R, and SQL Server, presented Texas Health Data to executive management, and trained internal and external users.Following launch, my team was primarily responsible for expansion and maintenance of the site, which included acquiring additional data sets and working with other programs across the agency to develop public-facing dashboards.In addition to Texas Health Data, our team was responsible for maintaining the population and demographic data for the Department of State Health Services. In this role, I advised agency epidemiologists on the appropriate use of these data.I also served as resident specialist in numerous products and guidelines, including R, Tableau, Ektron WCMS, and Section 508 accessibility. As a research specialist on the Data Dissemination team in the Center for Health Statistics (CHS), I had three primary responsibilities:1) Update and publish the annual Health Status of Texas report, 2) maintain our data-rich website and act as gatekeeper for CHS authors, and 3) make available and advise across the agency on the appropriate use of population and demographic data for public health analysis.My largest endeavor was the Health Status of Texas Report. This report functioned as a gateway for most users to access actionable public health data. Written in an easily digestible format and meant for both the public and legislators, it spanned topics including maternal and child health, chronic and infectious disease, behavioral risk factors, mortality, health access, and more. For the 2014 update, I worked on a major overhaul of the design and professionalism of the document, while also focusing on accessibility. I coordinated data updates and visualization requirements with multiple programs across the Department of State Health Services (DSHS) and other agencies. While completing my master's degree in Mathematical Behavioral Sciences, I worked as a graduate assistant, supporting professors in undergraduate courses including statistics, game theory, and U.S. and international politics. As part of my regular duties, I planned and taught discussion sessions, graded tests and papers, and counseled students.

I took the opportunity to experience a new culture while teaching English to Korean students Pre-K through 8th grade.
