A National Program of the Robert Wood Johnson Foundation, based at the Center for Health and Community at the University of California, San Francisco.Develop and implement the program's operating budget and grantmaking authority.Establish and execute the program strategy, policies, and communications plans, in partnership with other senior management at the National Program and Foundation. Oversee all aspects of grant management, including: maintaining the application tracking database, overseeing grant reviews, grants management and monitoring, coordinating the National Advisory Committee and reviewers, and providing technical assistance to grantees.Manage day-to-day program operations and staff, assuring effective operations and playing a substantive role in representing the program to internal and external stakeholders.

The mission of the ACPHC is to review and assess emerging health needs; initiate and improve health and disease prevention programs and policies; make recommendations regarding opportunities for building community capacity as related to public health priorities; and advocate for adequate resources and increased County action to improve community health.

Instructed undergraduate course: US Health Care System and Health Policy.Developed curriculum about the formation, enactment, and implementation of the Affordable Care Act.

Managed a portfolio of local, state and federal legislation, including analysis, strategy, and advocacy for more than 100 policy priorities of the agency annually.Provided strategic direction and project management to the Water Works! Campaign, focused on the economic impact of investments in the water sector; positioning the SFPUC as a leader and innovator among public utilities across the country.Advised on the framework and strategy for the implementation of the agency’s community benefits policy. Cultivated relationships with external public, private, philanthropic, and non-profit organizations.Managed a team of half a dozen staff and consultants. Including overseeing the agency’s state and federal lobbying contracts.

Managed the Innovation Fund initiative of the Convergence Partnership, including serving as the program officer for four grantees and overall management of the $1.8M fund budget.Delivered dozens of trainings and spoke nationally on issues of social, economic, and health equity, community engagement, and policy and environmental change strategies.Analyzed federal legislation and developed policy briefs to influence healthy living opportunities, particularly related to health care, nutrition, agriculture, and transportation policy.

Coordinated technical assistance for over 400 childhood obesity grantees nationally; including managing a $125K TA budget.Provided advice to the Office of the First Lady on the launch of the Let's Move Initiative. Provided strategic guidance on federal policy measures – especially as they relate to obesity prevention – to members of the federal administration, U.S. congressional members, private industry executives, and philanthropic institutions
