An initiative of Venture Lab, Snider Center Venture Consulting and Advising offers consulting and advising engagements in which teams of Wharton students conduct research, interviews, and analysis to make strategic recommendations for our clients.

Philadelphia

Developing and implementing quality educational programming and delivery initiatives with WSBDC Director; developing relationships and executing co-sponsorship agreements with other Philadelphia-area economic development groups.Consulting management of new and existing clients; developing client surveys and reporting on deliverables to funders; developing clear communication channels with clients.Hiring, training and supervising Client Services Assistants to represent the WSBDC to a wide range of audiences in the Wharton and Philadelphia business and government communities; ensuring quality of out-going communications.Devising marketing plan for Business Building program and educational programs; designing, writing and editing internal and external newsletters; liaising with state legislators and other partners in collaboration with the Director.Representing WSBDC at external outreach events organized with other University partners, venture capital firms, banks, local and regional partners, with particular focus in reaching out inner city entrepreneurs

Managed retail space generating one million dollars per year through sales, rentals, and coordination of cultural, advocacy, and benefit events; profits contributed to the operation of Housing Works, Inc., a non-profit corporation that provides housing, health care, advocacy, and other services to homeless New Yorkers living with HIV and AIDS. Directed store management program that used the efforts of paid staff, more than 100 weekly volunteers, and client-based Job Training Program participants to drive increased social entrepreneurial gain. Disseminated information among these groups and to customer base. Improved and enhanced volunteer participation by analyzing recruitment and retainment strategies; increased number of volunteer hours and diversity of tasks by creating learning tracks among volunteer and staff skill sets; created volunteer participation manual; maintained up-to-date volunteer data in Volunteer Works* software to better manage daily staffing needs. Assisted President with writing and release of volunteer program and financial reports to Board of Directors. Created staff work plan to operate a daily donated inventory-driven store; carried out all daily sales and cash reporting, including register reconcilement, daily sales reports, sales trending, petty cash disbursement, vendor payments, and monthly budget analysis.

San Francisco Bay Area

Development of yearly unit budget and strategic planning for unit. Reduced unit budget each year by streamlining tasks and increasing employee technical training, amounting in savings of several hundred thousand dollars over five years. Trained, developed, and directed five staff member unit that administered communication services to 1500 employees, including pagers, videoconferencing, and teleconferencing services. Wrote and edited in-house customer communications and edited communications to district banks. Coordinated project team that created innovative email delivery methods to replace paper Bank communications. Wrote and presented the winning strategic investment presentation on the email delivery system, "E-Notification," to Executive Team. Reduced database management and mailing costs by more than two hundred thousand dollars over three years. Implemented several district-wide consolidated administrative services, including mail and telephone services. Wrote requests for proposals, negotiated, and maintained contracts with district records management, travel, and print services. Assisted in planning of employee fairs to introduce new travel and print services.
