Hello! My name is Erin Jensen, and I'm a storyteller working to carve out a positive corner of the internet. As an entertainment writer with USA Today, I've interviewed hundreds of celebrities. And I love chatting with Brad Pitt about how he "flubbed" his first line when guest-starred on "Friends" and Steve Martin about how Selena Gomez introduced him to rap songs on "Only Murders in the Building." I also love conversations that get more personal, that provide our readers with wisdom, encouragement, and the feeling that they're alone."Really intense circumstances can amplify love, or they can take you in the other direction and really deteriorate it," Jada Pinkett Smith told me of her marriage to Will Smith in the fall of 2023. "We've taken advantage of learning how to amplify it." While discussing the Hulu series "Black Cake," executive producer Oprah Winfrey warned, "When you're your age, you’re still out in this world, you're trying to prove things, you're trying to climb the ladder. But now when you become a woman of a certain age or a person of a certain age, you start to understand the things that really matter... So my takeaway is to have no secrets and to love hard, love strong, love fiercely while you can.” A strong desire to put more good into the world inspired me to create two personal growth podcasts. Hears How celebrates the resiliency of the human spirit. Each 20-ish minute episode highlights a guest's ability to triumph over what my mind views as unimaginable circumstances, like wrongful imprisonment, a terminal cancer diagnosis, or losing a spouse on Sept. 11. On Most Self-Improved, my co-host and I welcome therapists and wellness experts to discuss topics on the minds of high-achieving Millennial women, including how to create the perfect morning routine, thrive while being single, and make friends as an adult. Both are available on Apple Podcasts and Spotify.

Entertainment WriterUsa Today Nov 2019 - PresentThe girl who grew up in a family that watched "E! News" at the dinner table and thought of Hollywood as "the land of dreams" because of "Pretty Woman" gets to write about TV, movies, books and celebrities for a living. How unbelievably wonderful is that?I mostly contribute to USA TODAY's TV section (with interviews, takes, highlights pieces and spoiler posts), but also assist our Movies and Books departments. I stay up to date on what series, films and memoirs are coming out, making predictions on what will resonate so I can reach out for coverage. And I remain flexible enough that I'm able to cover things increasing in popularity. I also take pride in the personal essays that I've written, including one about freezing my eggs as a single woman in her 30s. After it published, I received the sweetest note from a man, also single who'd been diagnosed with leukemia. He preserved his fertility before starting chemotherapy. "Thank you for allowing yourself to be vulnerable on such a large stage," he wrote. "I know I’m not the only one who was positively impacted by your ability to do so. I also commend your bravery because if therapy has taught me anything, and it’s taught me a lot, it’s that putting yourself out there is one of the bravest things you can do."Some of my favorite stories:Diane von Furstenberg on documentary, 'biggest gift' from mom, an Auschwitz survivorhttps://tinyurl.com/4rft47hjUvalde mom pushes through 'nightmare' so others won't know loss of a child in 'Print It Black'https://tinyurl.com/22mucwa9My dad has MS. Podcast HostHears How Sep 2022 - PresentI've long-been fascinated with resiliency because I never thought I had much of it. I've never cried over spilled milk, but I have shed tears over spilled orange juice. And every time I came across a story of heroism or triumph, I'd always wonder to myself, "How on Earth did they do that?" So I began Hears How with the hopes that the stories of these remarkable guests would inspire listeners to meet the challenges of their own lives. How Ashley Hallford outlived her dire cancer diagnosis: 'I just couldn't stop'https://podcasts.apple.com/us/podcast/hears-how/id1671025892?i=1000605944022Jack Grandcolas lost his wife on United Airlines Flight 93: 'I fought hard not to let them get me too'https://podcasts.apple.com/us/podcast/hears-how/id1671025892?i=1000600372496How Michelle Dowd survived her family's apocalyptic culthttps://podcasts.apple.com/us/podcast/hears-how/id1671025892?i=1000660711474
