SOM is responsible for providing training in Aviation Medicine and Hyperbaric Medicine to Canadian Forces Health Services personnel.

The program includes a… Show more The Residency in Aerospace Medicine Program is designed to train physicians to become experts with knowledge and expertise in general preventive medicine, aerospace medicine and military operational medicine.Residents in the Aerospace Medicine program complete core clinical rotations in various subspecialties of Aerospace Medicine, including Internal Medicine, Neurology, Cardiology, Pulmonology, ENT, Opthamology, Dermatology, Urology, Psychiatry and Orthopaedics. The program includes a number of Occupational Medicine courses and rotations as well, including Global Patient Movement and Air Evacuation, Tropical Medicine, Space Medicine, Medical Effects of Chemical and Biological Weapons, Radiation Health, Naval Aviation Safety.Residents in the United States Navy Aerospace Medicine Program are concurrently enrolled in the Masters in Public Health Program at the University of West Florida. Graduate coursework includes epidemiology, biostatistics, health policy, environmental health, behavior aspects of public health, toxicology, accident investigation/risk management and mitigation.
