The Front Porch Alliance works with the eastside of Kansas City to address the changing needs of the children and families at home and in school. I work to create and strengthen agency ties to the community to make sure services address the needs of the community. I am in charge of a volunteer-led minor home repairs program that addresses minor repairs to homes such as front porch repairs, building shelves, and replacing windows. Lastly, I am in charge of community events and education workshops.

Public Allies San Antonio is a 10 month AmeriCorps full- time apprenticeship program combined with intensive skills training, active community-building projects, personalized coaching, and critical reflection. During my service year, I was placed at two organizations, Inner City Development and CFAR (Center for Formative Action and Reflection. At Inner City, I ran an after school program for a small group of neighborhood elementary students. I also helped coordinate events and services for the organization throughout the year. I gave lots of technical help and design support. I brought some processes into the technological age. And I helped collect and format processes and procedures for all areas as they have never been documented before.At CFAR, I run the center and help to transition the executive director out of the lead role. I maintain the calendar, communicate with the community, facilitate inquiries and coordinate all events and servcies.

Focus was on reading and vocabulary through reading, art, crafts, field trips and a variety of activities. Research different grant and sponsorship information, work to reconnect with some lapsed relationships specifically with churches, gather and organize volunteers, design posters and marketing resources, general agency help.
