As the Country Director in Timor-Leste, I was responsible for the effective management of the Country Office of around 35 staff, including human resource development, program delivery, financial management, legal and regulatory compliance;I led on the following key Achievements- Change management: o Transition of policies, systems and programming as the Country Office management was taken over by ChildFund Australia (previously managed by ChildFund International USA). o Transition from a Child Sponsorship based organisation towards an organisation with sound systems for quality programming, Monitoring Evaluation and Learning, based on clear sector priorities and Theory of Change.o Transition from direct project implementation to a vision for localisation and strategic collaboration with a range of local partnerships. - Increased program quality through strategic program design and development processes in the areas of (preschool) Education, Online safety, Maternal and Child Health and Youth Development. - Resource Mobilisation, Successfully obtained grant funding from Australian Aid, New Zealand Ministry of Foreign Affairs, European Union and UNICEF. - Led the emergency relief programming in response to Cyclone Seroja with focus on Child Friendly Spaces/Mental Health and Psychosocial Support.- Emergencies Management: Steered the country office through the impact of the Covid 19 Pandemic, and the impact of a large-scale natural disaster (Cyclone Seroja 2021)- Localization and partnership management; expanded the relationship with Local CSOs and relevant government ministries at the national and district level, build staff competencies and set up systems for partnership management.

In Malawi, I set up a new country office as part of the organisation’s new decentralization policy. - I registered the organisation, recruited and build a new team of Program Managers, Finance and Logistics staff, and developed operating systems and procedures.- I developed the Country Strategic Plan and the Fundraising Strategy and managed the transition from a project portfolio to a coherent Country Program in collaboration with local partner organisations.- Successfully managed the country project portfolio of approximately 900.000 Euro annually implemented in collaboration with local implementing partners. And set the research and learning agendas in our programs together with the local program partners.- Established relationships with relevant line ministries, donors, and professional networks and build a professional reputation gaining recognition for our expertise in ECD, Child Protection and Youth involvement in Agribusiness.

As the project portfolio in Southern Africa grew due to funding from the EU and the Dutch Ministry of Foreign Affairs, I relocated from Netherlands to Lusaka, Zambia. - I developed and implemented the Regional Strategic Plan.- Successfully coordinated the implementation of Basic Education, Health and TVET programs funded by the Dutch Ministry of Foreign Affairs (2010-2015, 2,7 Million EUR for Zambia and Malawi)- Led the implementation of the EuropeAid funded Education Project (Capacity strengthening Community schools) in Zambia (42 months, 2013-2016, 900.000 EUR).- Raised additional funding for HIV prevention & Prevention Mother To Child Transmission (PMTCT) program in Malawi (Positive Action for Children Fund, 2015-2017, 240.000 GBP)- I Identified new partner organisations and projects and was responsible for the capacity development of local partner organisations with a focus on project design, project quality as well as Organisational Development.- I facilitated the setup of a regional network/ alliance with partners in the Netherlands and their local partners in Zambia, Malawi and South Africa who collaborated in the region on the implementation of programs funded by the Dutch Ministry of Foreign Affairs.
