I’m worked with an Ernst & Young Entrepreneur of the Year to shape and test an early-stage EdTech venture focused on building local micro-communities for online university students at risk of dropping out. As the CEO’s primary thought partner and head of operations, I consulted with him on market research, business plan development, a marketing campaign targeting 1,000+ colleges and universities, and top prospect identification. Based on the strength of our pitch, we presented to senior staff at two of the top three university prospects and are continuing to refine our product and approach.

I was recruited to head up partnership development for this fledgling two-person organization as it prepared to launch a campaign for a UN treaty to end violence against women and girls. In this role I:-Set the stage for expansion and reduced organizational risk by putting in place essential operational infrastructure and administrative systems, procedures, and processes for HR and workflow management. -Worked with a coalition of 1,800+ organizations across the globe to formulate joint strategies and actions.-Built out “high-touch” national campaigns in Nepal, Pakistan, Nigeria, and Kenya and secured funding for a pilot project in Nepal.-Designed a donor outreach strategy, hired a grants manager, and oversaw the fund development team.

World Pulse engaged me to expand membership in its women-led digital network for social change through outreach to potential partners. I conducted dozens of interviews to assess interest in joining the digital platform, surfaced key themes from interviews, and reported back to the founder.As other priority organizational needs emerged, I pitched a change management process that I subsequently facilitated, including a series of executive retreats.

With the support of a two-year grant from Meyer Memorial Trust, I helped this statewide, parent-led disability services agency achieve the following:-Worked with the FACT Oregon board and staff to move the organization toward a sustainable revenue model. The model we developed was anchored in three signature events that generate revenue, increase visibility, and create inclusive community. -Led crafting of grant proposals that brought in $500,000+ in government and private funding. Introduced DEI trainings that spurred important conversations and set the stage for long-term cultural change within the organization. -Supervised the communications team’s work on a major website redesign and initiation of video storytelling.

In 2012 I was recruited by a prominent Portland-area philanthropist to establish an independent membership organization under the auspices of Rotary International. Our objective was to centralize peace and conflict resolution resources and facilitate Rotarians’ meaningful engagement in peacebuilding projects across the globe.As founding Executive Director, I led all aspects of the group’s inception, launch, and maturation into a free-standing organization, including market analysis, strategic planning, board recruitment, membership systems, and fund development. I put the infrastructure in place to support core organizational functions including governance, programming, communications and marketing, and advocacy. I also represented the group at Rotary events and consulted with senior Rotary leadership on establishing effective partnerships with local, national, and international peace organizations.Upon leaving the Jubitz/Rotary role, I joined the long-range planning committee for the Rotary International Board of Trustees Peace Fellowship, and later was a founding Board member of the Rotary Peace Fellow Alumni Association. Between 2012 and 2015, I created a Portland-area Rotary Peace Conference that attracted over 500 attendees and major speakers, served on the steering committee for the Rotary Global Peace Forum in Hiroshima, Japan with over 2,500 participants from 50 nations, and served on the steering committee for the Rotary International Convention Peace Symposium in Sao Paulo, Brazil with over 12,000 participants from 100 nations.

I joined Mercy Corps as the managing editor of its online magazine focused on educating and informing donors about globalization. Recognizing a strategic opportunity to engage new audiences, I worked hand-in-hand with a donor to integrate and expand the organization’s disparate education programs into a fully-fledged, youth-focused education department. Highlights of my time at Mercy Corps include:-Transforming the magazine into a branded, interactive online community that engaged a half million students and educators across the globe in the organization’s humanitarian work. -Overseeing acquisition of two international NGOs, bringing new alliances and resources to support Mercy Corps’ mission. -Managing a staff of 12+ and serving on the team that launched hands-on learning centers in Portland and New York City.-Developing the framework, curriculum, and conference schedule for the All China Youth Federation Symposium on social entrepreneurship and innovation.

As a college student, I assisted the Founder with the creation of The National Society of Collegiate Scholars, an honor society that recognizes high-achieving college students and provides leadership and service opportunities. I joined the staff to manage the change from college-by-college programming to nationwide programs that could function at all NSCS campuses.

The KidTalk consulting firm brought together diverse consultants to create workshops and proposals for the Los Angeles Unified School District. I worked on the Intensive Academic Support (IAS) plan for second and eighth graders related to better inclusion of diverse populations.

I managed events and fundraising for this political strategy and fundraising consultancy that works with local and statewide candidates running for office, as well as nonprofit advocacy organizations and political action committees. The clients I supported included the Los Angeles Community College District bond initiative, the California Assembly Democratic Caucus, CA Proposition 39, the California Democratic Party, and the Gore Coordinated Campaign.

A program of Harvard Kennedy School, the Community Builder Fellowship was created to prepare a new generation of leaders from diverse professions to come together to help cities and towns access national housing assistance and cut through red tape. I served as a community resource to elected officials, local leaders, and public, private, and nonprofit groups in Los Angeles. My fellowship project focused on developing age-appropriate curricula on fair housing for nationwide Junior Achievement programs. I also completed special projects at HUD Headquarters in the Office of the Secretary, including work on the Clinton New Markets Initiative.

As a Peace Corps Volunteer, I was assigned to the municipal government of Loja, Ecuador—the country’s 5th-largest city—and worked to create and deliver education programs to 48 urban and rural barrios. I applied for a USAID grant that allowed us to build local lending libraries in six barrios in the province.

I coordinated large-scale corporate events, fundraisers, and community giving for Macy’s department stores, performing a range of tasks including community needs assessments, corporate sponsorships, and media relations.
