I worked on a variety of nonmotorized transportation projects Alta. I worked on bike/ped plans, did station layout designs for New York city's bike share program, worked on bike/ped infrastructure and trail designs, and just generally gave my planning and graphics/design skills a big workout, with plenty of GIS and data analysis thrown in for good measure.

I worked one the Cully Commercial Corridor and Local Streets Plan project, helping plan and execute the community engagement process, and preparing & presenting a wide variety of project materials. I also worked on health and equity projects at BPS.

I helped out with the development of a methodology for modeling health impacts of increased transportation for the state of California, advising on using travel survey and census data, and reviewing project drafts.

• Researched and developed active transportation performance target and methodology for Plan Bay Area, the Bay Area’s 2013 regional transportation plan. • Designed and carried out six weeks of grant-funded fieldwork in Managua and other Nicaraguan cities.• Conducted semi-structured interviews and carried out extensive participant-observation with Nicaraguans and with NGO staff; Transcribed, coded and analyzed data upon return.

Guatemala

• Co-founded and taught Spanish-language after-school reading programs for Guatemalan elementary and middle school students. • Developed program curriculum, created lesson plans and teaching materials, and instituted a system for the library program to continue after founders’ departure.•Documented and catalogued all of Volunteer Petén’s community projects.

Eugene, Oregon

• Taught and designed curriculum for six-week hands-on ecology course in a local elementary school.• Assisted with nature- and ecology-themed summer camps in the park.• As an intern, led groups of young students on nature walks through a local park/natural area to teach about ecology, local ecosystems, and local natural and cultural history; through games, stories, and direct observation and interaction with plants, animals and the landscape.
