In March 2022 I resigned from my three year tenure as the Executive Director of the Otsego County United Way. After guiding the organization through the pandemic, the yearning to nurture a work-life balance for my three kiddos and partner became a priority. While finishing my time at the United Way, an EF-3 tornado struck Gaylord May 20. United Way was one of the leading agencies helping tornado survivors and I was gleaning vital information on disaster recovery. To foster capacity when responding to the aftermath of the tornado, the Otsego Community Foundation proposed I be the Disaster Recovery Coordinator for the Gaylord Long Term Recovery Group. This contract offered me personal flexibility and the gift to serve a beloved town that experienced an unthinkable tragedy. The path leading to this work included studies in criminal justices, a master’s in public administration, and a 500-hour registered yoga teacher certificate. My husband's career allowed us to plant roots in Michigan, Pennsylvania, and New York. Our travels offered meaningful experiences as an AmeriCorps*VISTA and project coordinator; administrator at a YWCA; and a community development manager at a food pantry. For 20+ years I have been dedicated to working, volunteering, and offering support to the vulnerable. As a nonprofit professional and yoga instructor I honor the bittersweetness of life. I believe understanding there is great suffering, but also great joy in life helps me connect with the community and authentically hold space for people. My universal wish is for justice, equity, diversity, and inclusion. I am devoted to cultivating a welcoming, safe, and inclusive Otsego County. Whether that is through creating grant opportunities to encourage diversity in schools, helping a nonprofit build inclusive policies and procedures, or organizing a training that plants seeds of tolerance and love.

A community garden located at a nearby park so that renters, those with small yards and close neighbors have the opportunity to grow fresh foods 3.A Gardening “Coop” located in our parking lot, which gives neighbors, persons with varying abilities and pantry participants the opportunity to learn about growing produce and access to fresh foodsWithin all 3 gardening components the square foot gardening philosophy is used. The beds are 4x8, 4x4 or 4x2. Some beds are raised and some are lowered to ensure persons with varying abilities have access. Participants are able to select from plants that grow well in these types of gardens, such as tomatoes, herbs, peppers, carrots, beets, lettuces, and onions. The goals of all 3 projects are to:• To supply fresh produce and healthy food for participants• To increase self-sufficiency through food production techniques• To provide fresh vegetables to be used in food pantry to feed the hungry• To provide nutrition education to foster consumption of vegetables• To promote community awareness by offering numerous volunteer opportunities• Providing hands-on training for participants who want to seek employment in horticulture, food service and retail -

Director Of Administration & Case ManagerYwca Binghamton/Broome County Nov 2007 - Jul 2010For over 150 years, the YWCA USA, of which the YWCA Binghamton is a member, has served as a beacon of light for women and girls in their search for and fulfillment of productive lives. As the oldest and largest national and international organization dedicated solely to the empowerment of women and girls, especially through an aggressive effort to eliminate racism, the YWCA USA supports social services, conducts advocacy, provides education, trains leaders, and fights for racial justice.I had two positions at the YWCA Director of Administration and Case Manager. As the Director of Administration I handled all human resource issues, including hiring, orienting and terminating employees. I supervised front desk staff and took care of daily deposits and accounting. I worked closely with the executive director and board of director on policies and procedures. Additionally, I participated with the YWCA on a regional and national level contributing to committees related to advocacy, young women’s leadership and their accreditation process. As a case manager I worked with homeless women and children. My work gave me the opportunity to support women who are mentally ill, involved with the criminal justice system, victims of violence and abuse, and suffer from addiction to alcohol/drugs. An important aspect of this job was connecting the women with community resources to foster their independent living skills; this included helping them find employment and collaborating with community resources. I also organized, planned and facilitated a racial justice empowerment group; which met quarterly and brought the community together to speak honestly about race issues. This experience has given me skills to be culturally sensitive when working with diverse backgrounds.
