As project supervisor, I coordinate a team of up to 22 personnel on one of the biggest slope stabilisation jobs south of Kaikoura on State Highway 1.Working for Abseil Access has brought new challenges and strengthened my skills as a team leader. Liaising with client and project management teams to safely and efficiently deliver a product and service that will help reconnect communities within a strict deadline to get the highway open for the holiday season.Day to day activities include;• Ensuring the supervisors and crew know what is expected of them for the day to keep on target as safely as possible.• Ordering and maintaining supplies of drilling equipment, water, cement, mesh and appurtenances. • Rope and rescue planning.• Coordinating SIMOPS between our work and other civil works below our site.• Coordinate helicopter sling loads for the mobilisation of plant and materials.• Maintaining the asbuilt CAD drawings for the project

Greater Plutonio Fpso, Block 18, Angola

As core crew on BP’s Flagship, The Greater Plutonio FPSO, I use my training and experience as a supervisor to ensure all rope access inspection work gets carried out safely and efficiently, often overcoming situations where access is extremely complicated to complete tasks within deadlines. Day to day activities include Inventory and Requisitions of equipment, Rescue Planning, Risk assessments, Permit to Works for NDT tasks involving PT, MT, RT, UT and ECT Inspections.My role as supervisor has seen me guiding Angolan Nationals enabling them to grow individually to a point where they can now work as independent inspection team members. I am also a proud member of the prestigious Greater Plutonio Fire and Rescue Team where we get drilled and trained weekly through various offshore emergency scenarios.

Qatar

Contracted to Maersk Oil Qatar, Working on the world's largest FSO's, FSO Africa and FSO Asia.Project mandate was:Disconnection of FSO from calm buoy mooring which including changing mooring hawsers from between both FSO and CALM buoy.Disconnection and change out of 20" oil and 20" water lines from between FSO and CALM buoy,Change out of both 20"​, and 16"​ hose reels aft, including the installation of PUSNES breakaway coupling. Flushing calm buoy pressurised systems before replacing calm buoy swivel seals.NDT inspection of lifting pad eyes used to hang all rigging gear.

Offshore, Kuwait/Saudi Arabia

Selected as a supervisor on a field upgrade project on remote jackets in the Al-Khafji Field to enable automated control of remote wells in the field from a central platform.The rope access rigging teams I was in charge of successfully installed lifting equipment and tugger winches on the jackets capable of lifting up 5tonne J-Tubes that got transferred from a DP vessel. Involving installing various engineered solutions onto the jacket to accommodate the new fixtures. Working closely alongside Engineering, Diving and ROV teams to ensure each installation was completed successfully in one seamless operation. The experienced gained from dealing with different disciplines on such a synergetic level helped me learn how to handle large teams and work within a different scheme.

Offshore, Angola

Ropetec presented a fresh bunch of challenges that I truly enjoyed. Being part of a flying squad, I was sent out to supervise a diverse range of rope access activities on a wide range of offshore oil and gas facilities. Usually with a new crew working under me each time. During my time at Ropetec, I learnt how to deal with a variety of people and how to utilise my team members individual skills to accomplish tasks efficiently. My primary roles involved liaising with the client, daily reports and logs, responsibility for the safety, rigging and rope access as well as compiling detailed inspection reports for a wide variety of disciplines including class surveys.

Abu Dhabi

Working on gas injection facility that is plagued with vibration issues causing a lot of the pipe support bolts to loosen. My teams brief was to identify any loose or missing bolts and tighten and replace where necessary, reporting which areas were higher risk. While on the job our client saw how efficient our team was and hired us for an extra week to accomplish other work at height tasks on the facility

Durban, South Africa

Working under the close guidance early on in my career from the companies owner, I learnt how to respect tight deadlines and work in a high pressure competitive environment where anything less than perfection was unacceptable.After three years I was promoted to Level 3 site agent where I took care of all rope access activities on various sites both locally and internationally, I liaised with the head office and clients to ensure that a large assortment of assignments were completed to the correct specifications and in a timely manner.
