Ernest Bates - BioErnest graduated from Auburn University in civil engineering and worked for Chicago Bridge & Iron as a manufacturing engineer before joining the Southern Company in 1985. He progressed through increasing levels of responsibility as a project engineer in the areas of quality assurance, procurement quality, and nuclear power engineering & licensing. In 1998, Ernest left Southern Nuclear and attended Cumberland School of Law, graduating magna cum laude. His legal work experience includes corporate counsel with Southern Natural Gas and teaching in both the Cumberland School of Law research and writing & the Samford University M.B.A. business law programs. He has worked as a contract & litigation attorney, a federal clerk with Chief Judge U.W. Clemon, and a staff attorney with Chief Justice Drayton Nabers of the Alabama Supreme Court.
