Worked to improve the understanding on data of long-term ocean changes in the upper 1000m (about 3300 ft) of the Equatorial Pacific (5N-5S), more specifically temperature, salinity, and dissolved oxygen over three decades (1993-2023). Prepared a research proposal by assessing the oceanographic literature on large-scale drivers of hydrographic change in the region to explore ENSO (El Nino Southern Oscillation) conditions near Fiji during the year 2023 and compared it to data on the region dating back to 1993. Used applications such as Python, MATLAB, and Excel to organize and analyze data to produce contour plots, inter-property plots, and grid spaces of all hydrographic features across the three-decade timespan. Compiled, synthesized, and presented the findings at the Oceanography Senior Thesis Symposium.

Friday Harbor Labs
Collected geological, biological, chemical, and physical measurements around the Whidbey Basin. Collected and measured samples through core samples, CTD casts, and phytoplankton tows and utilized microscopy to identify phytoplankton and bacteria present. Performed Winkler titrations to accurately correct for dissolved oxygen values in the region. Measured current velocities around Whidbey Basin and used Python interpolation routines and differential calculus to determine content transport rates in the region.
