Build robust and scalable data integrations to work with healthcare providers and provide the optimal experience for patients. I've worked on a variety of projects at BrightLogic, from embedded C development to maintaining legacy C++ Windows desktop apps to developing a REST API with web and mobile clients for beverage management in casinos. My most recent work has been focused on ASP.NET / .NET Core development with an Angular JS front-end on the web and a Xamarin mobile client for Android and iOS. I've also taken on project management and production support responsibilities, as well as staff management and mentorship for interns and full-time developers.

I started as a senior developer at Bergen Logistics but stepped up to fill the CTO role when the previous CTO left during my third week. I expanded, improved, and maintained their primary software platform used to run their four global warehouses. I went out into the warehouse to see how people did their jobs and then translated that to code to make their jobs faster and operations more efficient. I integrated new hardware into the system, added new client-facing functionality, and monitored and managed the support queue including after-hours and weekends. managed a team of three overseas developers (already in place when I arrived) and mentored our QA/Support guru who's an aspiring developer. I provided superior service to Bergen Logistics' customers and potential customers. I played a significant role in hiring a new senior developer and an additional support/QA team member.

I came in to help the Tenafly Nature Center with the back-end migration of their technology systems to the Wild Apricot system. I managed the project from the TNC side, identifying and prioritizing key tasks, setting milestones, and coordinating the team to get the job done. I took direct responsibility for some of the larger more technical parts of the migration (e.g. the transfer of 6,000+ contacts from Gift Works to Wild Apricot) and delegated other tasks to staff members based on ability and area of expertise. I'm continuing to finish back-end setup and improvements post go-live, including looking for additional cost savings and process automations that will save staff time and allow them to focus on their mission and fundraising.

While working in Bridgewater's trading department as a software developer I was responsible for every aspect of the SDLC. I worked with traders to understand how they did their jobs and to figure out how to solve problems they had and free them up to think more about the markets. On my own and on teams I built new systems, added features to existing systems, and supported a broad technology stack to keep the trading desk running. I worked the technology stack from the database (primarily MS SQL Server) to the UI (primarily Windows forms applications in C# .NET or VB6). Most application code was in C# .NET but I also supported a significant legacy platform in VB6.Because of my expertise in this legacy system I was asked to train a group of six new hires in its support. I quickly expanded this role and took responsibility for their training in the supportability of most of the major applications in our technology portfolio. I coordinated with product owners and SMEs to give the new support team a solid technical foundation, and I mentored them in company culture and how to be successful at Bridgewater. The program was a huge success with five of the six new hires graduating certified to support the trading desk.

I started working at Plugit.com (a web hosting and development firm in Pensacola) as a developer. I picked up responsibilities for most web application development (either ASP/VBScript or Java against MS Access and MS SQL Server back-ends). When Plugit was sold to a hosting company in Tennessee I arranged to help them transfer the servers and I stayed in Pensacola as a freelancer serving the development needs of their customers.During this time I also picked up new customers and built new systems. I was an early adopter of the Google Maps API, creating a "mash up" that integrated the MLS database of local listings with dynamic search functionality (via JavaScript and AJAX) to put the listings on the map.In this time period I also served as the CTO for a friend's business venture. I set the technology vision, acted as lead developer, and hired a small team of consultants to help build the platform. Our expected hosting strategy, as well as the skills of the consultants who were readily available, led us to select MySQL, Apache, and PHP for our technology stack. Though I hadn't worked with these specific technologies before, I quickly developed expertise to the point where I could mentor and review our consultants as well as submit bug reports with suggested fixes to PEAR and Smarty. Unfortunately this venture didn't successfully get off the ground, but I thoroughly enjoyed the work and learned many great lessons (as well as new technologies).

I worked in Trilogy's consulting branch focused specifically on computer industry clients. During this time I deployed e-commerce solutions to companies like Motorola, HP-Compaq, and Silicon Graphics using technologies ranging from VB6, Java, ASP/VBScript, MS Access, MS SQL Server 7, and Oracle 8. I was primarily responsible for the coding and testing phases of the SDLC.During my tenure at Trilogy I earned a spot on the special SEAL recruiting team. We were a team of technologists who worked closely with Trilogy recruiters to improve the recruiting process and bring top talent into the company. We were able to bring top talent from colleges despite heavy recruiting competition from both established companies and start-ups.I took an active role in the training of industry hires in Trilogy technologies. I developed course materials and exercises and coordinated with product developers and other experienced consultants to provide an in-depth, hands-on program that left industry hires ready to excel on their first project at Trilogy.I was promoted to a management position in the consulting organization. At the peak I was responsible for people management of as many as 40 consultants. I delivered performance evaluations, made recommendations for assignments and training, and advised and performed other HR functions like compensation adjustments, transfers, and firings.
