As a senior software engineer in the Business Intelligence group at DealNews my main responsibility is to maintain our existing legacy ETL processes and workflows. This includes modeling and setting up new data integrations as they come online. In addition to maintaining the existing systems I am also working to setup and enhance the automated monitoring of these systems. I am involved in the discovery, evaluation and testing of new products and technologies that will replace the existing legacy processes. Other responsibilities include requirements gathering, data analysis, report and query creation and general software development related to the in-house tooling used inour systems.

Create and maintain various operations protocols and tools built in Ruby, Python, PHP or Java. Lead code deployment initiatives using a deployment system I built integrated with Jenkins for Continuous Integration and Deployment. The deployment system is written in Ruby and performs parallel deployments to several different server types.

Project Manager for a planned migration from Oracle Forms to an Oracle ADF environment that makes heavy use of Java/JSF technologies. Contributed to creation of training and guidelines for current developers during the transition to the new framework. Developed and maintained Forms. Wrote a PHP/jQuery/MySQL app used to track employees’ time and attendance and another PHP app that allows developers to track time spent on an assigned problem report.

Sole developer for multiple full lifecycle web apps for this start-up government/defense contracting firm. Managed source code control, developed standard methodologies and procedures, and created all technical documentation. Interacted with clients to define requirements and provide support. Set up and maintained network environment, Windows Domain Controller, and web servers. Hired and supervised contractors. Primary web app was a subcontractor management and project costing app built in PHP/Java/Ext JS/MySQL. Built a tool to manage user licenses in PHP/JavaScript with AJAX communications. Designed and developed other tools to aid in project management and to integrate diverse apps.

(contract to US Army) Part of full project lifecycle for development of a central repository web app to track aircraft parts, contributing to requirements, setup of app server hardware, compiling data, documentation, and training end users. Created the only application component that was retained after prime contractor lost project. Imported hundreds of thousands of data records from various data sources into a centralized Oracle database.

Part of full lifecycle development of an aircraft reset and refit metrics web app portal for the US Army in PHP, JavaScript, and MySQL, including requirements, architecture, DBA/data design, workflow testing, and documentation. Supervised and trained two developers on development procedures. Created a MS Project repo web app capable of storing and analyzing Project data using PHP, Java, and an open source library to read/write MS Project files. Created a web-based data entry and reporting system. Chose programming languages for each project based on requirements.

Provided web application development and administration on contract for the US Army. Collaborated to gather requirements and define specifications and built app using PHP and ColdFusion. Setup web application hardware and administered six critical websites/applications. Maintained four Microsoft SQL Server 2000 databases and compiled and indexed hundreds of daily reports and briefings through the web app. Trained personnel on use of web apps and supervised two direct reports.

Sole web developer for multiple innovative full lifecycle web app development initiatives primarily using PHP, JavaScript, and Oracle. Created workflow procedures developed and maintained database and online document repository, and provided hands-on support and training on workflow procedures and applications. Mentored two interns.

Served as Vignette Story Server Content Management Server SME as an on-site consultant for various US clients. Gathered requirements, established functional specs, and developed apps. Configured server environments, compiled legacy data, developed templates, and coded. Rescued two projects from failure through database redesign and code analysis/improvements. Clients included Carrier Corporation, iVillage.com, and First Union Bank.
