Managed a portfolio of research and policy work focused on homeless youth, educational equity and access to resources, and economic mobility. Authored data-driven reports on these topics, and leveraged that research to launch a campaign that mobilized cross-sector stakeholders, including policymakers, nonprofits, foundations, and schools to design and execute collaborative initiatives to improve outcomes for homeless youth.Our campaign recommendations were included in the bipartisan Higher Education Access and Success for Homeless Youth and Foster Youth Act (S.789), and in the U.S. Department of Education’s Every Student Succeeds Act Guidance to States.

Washington D.C. Metro Area

Provided program support to a coalition of foundations and nonprofits participating in a new grantmaking initiative of the federal agency The Corporation for National and Community Service (CNCS). Interviewed foundation and nonprofit participants to gain feedback on their experiences as part of the pilot program. Authored a series of case studies on their successes and challenges, and shared learnings with CNCS, as well as with foundations and nonprofits interested in future participation.

Nairobi, Kenya

Key member of a team that founded a non-profit, Lisha Mtoto Initiative, that provided education and health care to at-risk youth in the Nairobi slum of Kibera. We recruited donors, lobbied the Kenyan government for nonprofit status, and formed a board of directors to lead the new organization. Our efforts resulted in the creation of a new school that educated 30 local children who otherwise had no access to quality education.

Madrid, Spain

Taught English as a Foreign Language to Spanish business professionals. Designed curriculum for 10 classes with students ranging from beginner to advanced level.

Greater Chicago Area

Managed a team of highly diverse individuals to provide excellent literacy services to an inner city elementary school. Our team significantly improved literacy test scores for students, leading the school administration and teachers to request the team to return the following year.
