I have recently been awarded a PhD, with my research focusing on human engagement with cultural products and sites of heritage. I have a background in anthropology and history, and have research experience in Australia and Japan. My research focuses on how material culture contributes to efforts in regional and community sustainability, and is conducted in tandem with members of each respective community.I have on-field, qualitative research experience in regional Japanese communities, as well as urban-centred communities of grassroots actors in Japan and Australia. I have conducted my work in both English and Japanese, and published the results in international journals on social sciences and humanities. I am also an experienced presenter in symposiums, conferences, and other forums, gaining positive feedback from my peers in the academy.Alongside my research, I have experience in writing and translating information about historical and cultural exhibition materials from Japanese to English, aimed at both a research-based and general audience. With my speciality in cultural heritage, I am equipped to not only translate from one language to the other, but to ensure that my translations reflect the nuances of changing times, contexts, and cultural values across communities of the past and present.
