I worked on the complex care unit before transitioning to acute medical in February 2018. I gained a lot of experience working with acute and chronic wounds, gastric feeding systems and intravenous therapy. I also had the privilege of working with BScN and RPN students as they complete their 1st and 2nd year training on the medical floor. I enjoyed showing them what the hospital environment is like while they teach me about new procedures they are learning and demonstrating for the first time.

I was responsible for personal care and assistance for elderly clients. I worked alongside fellow PSWs, Registered Practical Nurses and a Registered Nurse while following care plans developed by social workers, doctors and nurse practitioners.

Sault Ste. Marie, On

For my consolidation, I was placed on the Medical floor under the direction and supervision of an experienced RN. I was responsible for 5-7 acute and chronically ill patients with a wide variety of care needs. I was responsible for medication administration, IV therapy, and personal care.I collaborated with other nurses, social workers, physiotherapy, wound care, nurse practitioners and doctors.

I had numerous clinical placements during my time at Sault Area Hospital including rehabilitation, inpatient surgical, obstetrics, pediatrics, mental health, ambulatory care and minor procedures.
