I conducted my MSc thesis at Eurocontrol. The research goal is to model the airport departure process under the influence of uncertainty.

My tasks are to accompany clients with mental and/or physical disabilities to their daily activities and to clean office and residential buildings. I worked here next to my studies, mainly in holiday periods and weekends.

During this six month internship I worked on two different assignments. The first assignment was to improve the fuel volume forecast and analysis models developed in Python. In the second assignment I researched what amount of delay can be expected during several flight phases (before departure, during taxi and en route), in order to improve information used in flight planning. By improving this information, a flight planner can reduce the margin on a flight plan, which ultimately results in arriving closer to the specified arrival time. I especially focused on solutions which could be implemented in the KLM systems and by the time I left, several findings were indeed implemented.

Human Power Team Delft & Amsterdam (www.hptdelft.nl) is one of the TU Delft Dreamteams, which builds and races a high speed bicycle. As financial manager I was responsible for the finances, including budgeting, bookkeeping and taxes.

I was responsible for the ‘Strandbibliotheek’ (library at the beach) during opening hours in the summer, where I made children and adults enthusiastic to read. I also worked at regular locations of the library during the rest of the year.

I taught mental arithmetic to a class (±30 people) of third year high school students. Furthermore, I tutored mathematics and I assisted in handing out books at the start of a new academic year.
