Collect and evaluate research lines within our technical medical network for student internships. Communication with our clinical partners regarding internships (within the Netherlands and abroad). Set up an internship evaluation procedure. Use the overview of current clinical research lines to give feedback to the Technical Medicine master program. Give advice on future directions for research lines and needs in teaching/research staff. Prepare and evaluate yearly meeting with clinical professors and researchers.

With transcranial magnetic stimulation (TMS) short magnetic pulses activate small brain areas. Epilepsy is characterized by a disbalance between excitation and inhibition, leading to high synchronized activity seen during the seizures. The brain’s response to TMS pulses may serve as a biomarker for epilepsy. We created a TMS-EEG measurement set-up and solved several methodological issues. We compared TMS-EEG responses in healthy subjects and epilepsy patients.
