Most recently, I established the first ever HR Communications practice at NetApp. Previously, at Cisco I was managing the Executive Communications teams for HR, IT and Finance, interfacing directly with the CHRO, CIO and CFO. I established the first HR Executive and Program Communications team, bringing process and the employee voice into how Cisco positions and communicates employee programs. During a period of significant change, I was the strategic communications advisor for Cisco's CHRO and gained a solid reputation for expertly managing sensitive employee-related communications such as layoffs, benefits changes, compensation, and hiring issues. Previously, I managed an executive communications team for the Office of the President and CEO, where I also handled internal “timely issues,” dealing with sensitive corporate/crisis topics. I also managed CEO-level communications, including working directly with the CEO and CFO to develop the quarterly earnings conference call scripts and messaging. In my first role at Cisco, I was a writer and editor for the Corporate Marketing and Branding team, helping to establish Cisco’s first Online Writing and Editing Style Guide. Prior to Cisco I held communications roles in the high-tech, publishing, and nonprofit industries. I received my Bachelor’s Degree in Communications from Santa Clara University with a minor in English. I am a lifetime fan of the San Francisco Giants and a huge stickler for grammar and the serial comma.
