As an editor for Mobomo I worked on NOAA Fisheries website revitalization project. I edited content from NOAA Fisheries for readability, audience, grammar, and syntax. I also wrote content on topics ranging from species profiles to fisheries policy. In that work I researched and consolidated content from NOAA’s existing sites and collaborated with superiors and NOAA officials to ensure an accurate product.

Working for Best Buy over the years has helped me develop into a well-rounded professional. I help clients understand new technologies in a simple yet thorough manner and aid them in finding the perfect fit for their lifestyle. I effectively explain the differences between products and their features and sometimes troubleshoot customer issues with technology.

While writing for The Odyssey Online my writing style gained a candid simplicity that lends itself to research oriented pieces. I wrote at least one article of content every week on topics ranging from innovations in technology to details of folklore in an understandable and concise manner while retaining an active, flowing voice throughout the piece.

Vector Marketing was my initiation into the professional world. I worked directly with customers on a one-on-one, personal basis; set up sales appointments via phone or email in a professional manner; and gave a 30-45 minute detailed demonstration to the customer with poise, effectiveness, and positive manner. I even reached $16,418 in personal, direct sales in seven months while maintaining an above national and office average sale ($300) and closing ratio (70%).

I was able to gain valuable leadership experience with Vector Marketing as an Assistant Manager. I interviewed individuals of varying ages (averaging at 17-45) for the position of Sales Representative, conducted a pre-interview screening session with each candidate, gave a 90 minute main portion presentation fully communicating the details (i.e. pay, market, history, products, etc.) of the Sales Representative position, and individually considered each applicant in a one-on-one post-interview session and informed those accepted of their training times/needs. I also helped the District Manager with training new Sales Representatives and taught basic skills to new Sales Representatives such as phone skills, networking skills, and basic sales techniques.
