At Young Life West Side in New York City, I am a Leader for the middle school, aka WyldLife. I meet with them weekly during the school year to talk about their lives, experiences, and play with them as a caring adult. This involves a lot of interpersonal communication and active listening on my part. It is also a constant test of patience, as expected with working with children, but I greatly enjoy being what many adults were to me as a child: Someone who cares.I have also been a Camp Counselor at both the Summer Camp and Fall weekend events, in which I would always be around the kids, making sure they stayed safe, had fun and came to camp events. These forced much leadership and group organizing skills into my skillset, as herding children requires a LOT of attention. We would, as counselors, also have some one-on-one time with each of the kids, again using the communication skills.

This year was very similar to last year, but it was much less focused on the 3D modeling, and much more focused on the shop drawings and working with the architect's drawings. As a draftsman, my main goal was to take the drawings that we were given, recreate them in a CAD program, and then create technical shop drawings to give to the architect for approval. It required a lot of reading complex construction drawings, and a lot of AutoCAD to extract specific measurements from the scaled PDF files.

New York Harbor School

A Civic Science Environmental Monitoring program headed by Mauricio Gonzalez at the New York Harbor School. https://harborseals.org/As a senior leader in the Physical Chemistry team, I led a team of members and junior leaders to take chemical and physical measurements in the Hudson river off of Governors Island, and prepared the junior leaders for full leadership positions once I graduated. As lab technician, I managed three 3D Printers, taking them from non-functional to fully functional. I conduct tests concerning enterococcus bacteria in the Harbor. I also headed and designed the Drone Initiative, in which drones are flown to collect water samples from unreachable distances in the Harbor, which required multiple custom-made 3D printed parts.

As a draftsman, I would be sent technical drawings and I would recreate 3D models. and Then, make more precise technical drawings than what I received to show to the fabricators. There was much revision and recreation of 3D models in order to share with the client and the architect, leading to the forced mindset of constant improvement of the product.
