• Worked independently and as part of a team to manage trout populations in Northeast Iowa. • Assisted with the trout stocking of the trout streams in Northeast Iowa. Most streams are in remote locations on unimproved trails. Streams were stocked in all weather conditions. Once I learned the stream stocking locations I completed this task independently.• Assisted with the daily operation of a cold water trout hatchery duties including; fish feeding, raceway flushing, recording daily fish mortalities, assisting with chloramine-T treatments on raceways exhibiting signs of Bacterial Gill Disease, monitored fish for potential abnormal behavior, recorded monthly dissolved oxygen levels and water flows through raceways.• Equipment and grounds maintenance; assisted in pouring concrete pads for hatchery fuel tank and oil spill containment storage unit, responsible for mowing hatchery grounds, assembled and maintained angler access stiles, removed downed trees on hatchery grounds and stocking areas with a chainsaw, cleaned hatchery stocking trucks and repaired tanks. • Assisted fisheries management with fish population sampling on trout streams by use of a back pack electro-shocker.• Assisted fisheries management with collecting fish for the Iowa State Fair. An electrofishing boat was used for the fish collection.
