I recently graduated with a Bachelors of Chemical engineering from LSU. Throughout my years in college, I worked as construction worker installing residential water and sewer pipelines. I gained an important perspective of what it’s like to turn engineering work into real world infrastructure, not only an appreciation for physical strain of laborers but also the mechanical knowledge required to succeed. I also worked as a tutor in the Center for Academic Success helping students in Organic Chemistry, Physics, Calculus, and Economics. I loved the opportunity of sharing what I learned to others and seeing the fruits of my labor when their eyes finally lit up with the same curiosity and understanding I felt. My goals strongly align with the job of a tutor. I want to be able to grow in the field of chemical engineering with real world experience to eventually become an expert capable of sharing the craft. Since graduation I have worked as a research and development intern at Lion Elastomers Technology Center in Baton Rouge. I have been well acquainted with the characterization and preparation of pressure sensitive adhesives and coatings. I have enjoyed having the opportunity to conduct meaningful lab work and to learn from experts in their own fields. I am of the mindset that everyone can teach you something and I have been glad to have such a welcoming and helpful group be my first experience in the industry.
