Worked on two projects with them:Project: Monte Carlo Estimator for the Schatten p-norm• Implemented Monte Carlo Estimator to approximate the Schatten p-norm of a positive semi-definite matrix• Derived bound on the number of samples required to guarantee convergence with a particular probability• Programmed test cases in Matlab to verify that my Monte Carlo Estimator worked correctly• Submitted a manuscript to for publication to Numerical Linear Algebra with Applications (IF: 1.298)• Presented results at the Joint Mathematics Meeting in January 2020Project: Dynamical Data Collection • Designed weighting algorithm to assign binary weight to every sensor at every time data was collected.• Implemented weighting algorithm to define a method to turn sensors on and off• Displayed that switching sensors on and off worked as well as using the same sensors every time, but also reduced the cost of taking measurements. • Presented results during mathematics departmental seminar series
