About Ethan Toven-Lindsey
Ethan Lindsey decided he wanted to be a journalist his sophomore year in college, when he realized that if he wrote about the football team, he could get into the games for free. Fast forward nearly twenty years, and he is now a Peabody Award-winning radio journalist who is still focused on the best way to watch the California Golden Bears play football. Lindsey is the executive editor of KQED News, Previously, he was the senior managing editor at the public radio mid-day show Here & Now, produced by WBUR and NPR. Before that, Lindsey helped launch a content startup, and worked at Marketplace, the public radio show, working his way up from being a PA on the Marketplace Morning Report in 2004 to the interim managing editor and the first senior digital editor at the organization. In between, he worked as a reporter at the Oregon Public Broadcasting. One of Lindsey’s first jobs out of college was clipping and summarizing news for the President and the White House.In 2009, Lindsey won a Peabody Award for his work as a reporter at Oregon Public Broadcasting. He was also awarded a Fulbright fellowship, which allowed him to report in Germany for a year. One of the highlights of his fellowship was a trip to Trossingen, Germany, the birthplace of the harmonica.Lindsey graduated from UC Berkeley, with a degree in English. In addition, he received his Masters at Columbia University’s Graduate School of Journalism.
