As a Senior Heritage Operations Officer within Heritage NSW of the Department of Premier and Cabinet, I directly contribute to the protection and understanding of Aboriginal, non-Aboriginal and shared cultural heritage. I conduct the identification, assessment, management, interpretation and monitoring of objects and places of significance through a range of programs. As part of my position, we encourage and facilitate community participation in heritage management at a local and regional level through the listing of Aboriginal Places and items on the State Heritage Register in the region, contribute to the delivery of the repatriation and conservation programs including liaising with land managers and communities to enhance their understanding and ability to protect and manage Aboriginal cultural heritage, Prepare accurate and timely advice and documents including reports, briefing papers, correspondence, submissions and advice on operational heritage and cultural issues, Liaise with and provide information to local communities, agencies, schools and interest groups to promote awareness of heritage and to improve heritage management. Including working with the team to provide support and training to access information from the heritage management systems including AHIMS and SHI and contribute to investigation of compliance or enforcement activities under the Heritage Act 1977.

As the Southern Region Sports Development Officer, I liaised with Indigenous communities in the Southern region of New South Wales to assess the sporting needs and priorities of Aboriginal communities. The aim is to create sustainable programs by focusing on building the sporting capacity of Indigenous Australians. This is achieved through coordinating the delivery of accredited coaching and officiating courses, building links to existing sporting clubs or assisting in the creation of new clubs and where possible, linking individuals to mainstream sporting competitions.
