Believers Keep on Believing started in July 2014 when I started a volunteer fitness program at the recreation center for anyone that was willing or needed advice. In Oct 2014 this program lead me to a young single parent that had a son 13 years old having difficulty in school because he was overweight and would not take instructions from the doctor or the mother and was headed for a down fall. In February 2015 I starting one-one mentorship for this young man until the father picked him up for the summer of 2015. On 1 June 2015 we started the Believing in the NuYu Summer Camp Youth Mentoring Program in Hinesville Ga. at Connections Church. On 1 September 2015 we plan to start our After School Mentoring Program. This program is designed to mentor a coed group between the ages of 13 to 18 with an adult volunteer (Mentor) in a one-to-one mentoring relationship and in a group sitting. The program is also designed to involve the mentees in Monthly group mentoring workshops and weekly calls for check up. The mentoring group is designed to increase confidence, self-empowerment, and focus on setting academic, life, and career goals. It encourages emotional, spiritual, and social growth alone with coordinating open lines of conscious dialog between the students and their mentors. We empowered the group by focusing on goal setting.
