As Deputy Director for Policy at the Singapore Ministry of Foreign Affairs’ Consular Directorate, I oversee a team tasked to review and formulate consular policies and guidelines, in addition to handling the day-to-day management and administration of the Consular Policy Desk. The team is driven to transform for the better and enhance our consular assistance to overseas Singaporeans.

Greater Jakarta Area, Indonesia

As Counsellor for Administration and Consular at the Singapore Embassy in Jakarta, Indonesia, I headed the Administration and Consular sections of the mission. Overseeing the day-to-day operations of the Embassy, my responsibilities included managing the budget, financial matters, HR, property maintenance, security, consular services, and engaging the overseas Singaporean community. After graduating with a Bachelor of Arts, Second Class Honours (Upper) at the National University of Singapore, I joined the Singapore Foreign Service in 2005. There, I spent my formative years at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs’ Protocol Directorate managing visits by Heads of States and Governments, diplomatic events, and handled matters pertaining to diplomatic privileges and immunities.In 2009, after attending the Korean Language and Culture Programme for Diplomats as a Korea Foundation Fellow at Seoul National University, I assumed the post of First Secretary at the Singapore Embassy in Seoul, where I was also appointed Charge d’Affaires ad interim on a number of occasions. After completing my tour of duty in Seoul, I returned to the Ministry and served as Assistant Director at the Protocol Directorate from 2013 to 2015. In 2014, I represented Singapore at the 69th United Nations General Assembly in New York as a delegate. The following year, I returned to New York where I headed the Singapore Consulate until 2018.While in New York, I managed the affairs of the Singapore Consulate which included the provision of consular services, administrative matters, and furthering Singapore’s diplomatic relations with the US. I have also had speaking engagements at New York University and the New York Institute of Technology. At the 2020 National Day Awards, I received The Public Administration Award (Bronze). Other professional awards include the PS21 (Public Service) Star Service Award, the Ministry of Foreign Affairs’ Long Service Award and the Excellence in Service Award.

As Head of Post, I oversee the administrative functions and operations of the Singapore Consulate in New York. In my official capacity as Singapore's Consul in New York, I represent the Singapore government and Ministry of Foreign Affairs in New York and twelve other northeastern states in the US that come under the consular jurisdiction of the Consulate.
