I have been working as a social media manager and content producer at INESC TEC (an associate laboratory in Porto) since 2012. I have been managing INESC TEC’s social media, specifically the Linkedin, Twitter, Facebook, and Instagram accounts, for more than 6 years. Due to my work with social media networks I have been improving my creative side and developed designer skills, being able to work with photoshop and InDesign. Planning strategically, analysing and monitoring audiences are also skills I have been improving. From 2019 until now I am working in the European project InterConnect (Interoperable Solutions connecting smart homes, buildings, and grids) and homes (led by INESC TEC), where I perform communication and dissemination tasks. For a year and a half (from 2020 to mid-2021) I was media advisor and PR, also at INESC TEC.At INESC TEC, communicating new technologies and turning our scientists’ achievements into interesting content and attractive posts is my day-to-day work. Moreover, I become aware of the technology state of the art and trends, and I develop my sense of creativity as I have to turn technical subjects into interesting content. As many times as possible, I try to create multimedia content, not only for the social media posts but also for INESC TEC’s newsletter and website. This is in fact a skill that I acquired as part of my degree and improved while working at the Portuguese television station TVI. Because INESC TEC has a multicultural environment, with scientists from all over the world, I have improved my language skills, especially my proficiency in English.
