Academically and professionally qualified librarian who loves the practical and theoretical sides of information, and who is committed to bringing people and information together.I am a qualitative researcher with experience of several research approaches, especially Phenomenography and Variation Theory. My research interests are mainly in the domains of Education (especially lifelong learning) and Information Studies. These were combined in my PhD work, which examined Continuing Professional Development for one-person librarians and which was embedded in theories of workplace and informal learning. My professional expertise includes all aspects of library and information science (LIS), particularly database searching, children's librarianship, event management, library management, information and research support in the field of Education, and one-person librarianship. Through a variety of volunteering roles I have expanded my knowledge of information literacy, social media, copyright and open access, international developments, writing for the profession, mentoring, organising conferences, and networking in LIS.
