My mission at Accelerate Wind was to transition their CFD modelling infrastructure from Autodesk Fusion 360 to Ansys. With no prior experience in either platform, I successfully developd a reliable workflow for taking two-dimensional wind turbine geometries and integrating them into an Ansys Fluent turbulent flow model that had been validated with experimental field data from a prototype. I documented the workflows and passed them off to incoming undergraduate interns, who were able to use my framework to rapidly iterate and test new turbine geometries, optimize performance, and inform the design of the next-generation prototype currently being fabricated.

I teach thermofluids lessons to groups of approximately 10 students to work through the fundamental concepts of fluid motion and heat diffusion, including Bernoulli, Navier-Stokes, and the three common forms of heat transfer. In addition, I hold regular office hours to help students understand key class concepts both conceptually and mathematically. This role has also been a valuable opportunity to explore the different principles of and approaches to effective teaching of technical material to inform my own teaching methods.
