As a Director within the AER's networks branch, I lead a team of 4-5 people that is responsible for forecasting electricity distribution and transmission operating expenditure, applying incentive schemes, and publishing economic benchmarking reports.In my time as Director, I have been responsible for:1. The AER's 2018 annual economic benchmarking reports for distribution and transmission networks (link).2. The AER's final decision on forecasting the expected productivity growth of electricity distribution networks.3. Draft and final decisions for the AER's assessment of forecast operating expenditure for 2019-24 for the NSW and ACT distribution networks.

As Assistant Director, I was responsible for leading small teams that assessed the operating and capital expenditure proposals of Australian electrical network businesses as part of their regulatory and pricing determinations. I had particular responsibility for economic benchmarking, operating expenditure modelling, network augmentation assessments and maximum demand forecasting.Recent highlights:1. I planned and lead two important reviews into the AER's economic benchmarking models: the review of transmission benchmarking (2017) and the review of operating environment factors (2017-18).2. I played a central strategy and analytical role in remaking the AER's 2014-19 regulatory determinations for the NSW and ACT distribution businesses. These formally begun in 2017 and concluded in 2019.

This included assessing the NBN Special Access Undertaking and contributing to the ACCC’s submission to the Vertigan Review of NBN policy and the telecommunications regulatory regime.
