Evan has been working in the area of international relations and trade since joining the Government of Canada in 2009. He is currently Consul and Trade Commissioner responsible for agriculture at the Consulate General of Canada in Minneapolis, covering Iowa, Minnesota, Nebraska, North Dakota, and South Dakota. Before arriving at the Consulate General of Canada, Evan was the Senior Market Development Officer for Greater China and India within the Market Access Secretariat of Agriculture and Agri-Food Canada (AAFC). At AAFC, Evan has also served as a Senior Policy Analyst in the International Affairs Branch Office of the Assistant Deputy Minister and was the Trade Policy Analyst covering Latin America market access. Evan began his career in the Canadian Public Service at Global Affairs Canada, where he has held various roles. Most recently, Evan was Deputy Head of the North American Platform Program, a partnership of government departments and agencies working to advance Canadian interests and business development in North America. He has also served as Senior Policy Advisor in the North America Policy Bureau, Senior Advocacy Advisor and Mission Liaison in the North America Advocacy Division, and Policy Research Advisor with the Foreign Policy Planning Division. Before being posted to the Consulate in Minneapolis, Evan has completed several short-term assignments at Canadian offices abroad, including Atlanta, Dallas, New York, Buffalo, Miami, and Mexico. During these assignments, he supported high-level delegations, international business development, and foreign policy initiatives. Evan is a graduate of Memorial University of Newfoundland, where he obtained a Master of Arts Political Science, a Bachelor of Arts (Honours) and a Certificate in Criminology.
