Last Gasp was my entry into the world of manga lettering, and I have worked on projects for them to this day. Working at four two Jr High schools and two Elementary schools, I helped students to become skilled English speakers via lessons, worksheets, games, and conversation. I implemented my art skills heavily into this position, making many illustration-packed slideshows, flashcards, and games, as well as teaching art-based English lessons whenever possible, allowing the students to express themselves through words and pictures. I also occasionally worked as the photographer for in-school events. My proudest accomplishment at JET was designing, editing, and illustrating an English picture dictionary and accompanying flashcards and PowerPoint, which was used throughout the Nagasaki City school system.

Working as a seasonal photographer for the Senior Portrait Division at Prestige, I shot yearbook, casual, and cap & gown photos for high school seniors. I worked on location at various high schools aroung the bay - as far south as Cupertino, and as far north as Napa - as well as working at Prestige's multiple studios. The job required good aesthetic composition, the ability to work with a wide variety of people, and the ability to edit photos quickly and accurately on-site.

Freelance UX and graphic design for Honestly and its former incarnation, Unvarnished. I created the visual brand identity for the Unvarnished era, and provided various image assets for Honestly.

I worked with Intersection Magazine on four occasions. First, in January 2007, I assisted photographer Alex Freund in the Nissan Bevel concept photo shoot. Later, in October 2007, at the Tokyo Motor Show, I assisted with fashion shoots around the show, and shot various details of concept vehicles. Later, I worked as the photographer at the 2009 and 2011 Detroit Auto show (NAIAS).

In my position as the in-house graphic designer at Spleak Media Network, I gave the product an entirely new look for the company relaunch, and handled all of the day-to-day graphics needs. Major accomplishments included visual design for the company websites, the broadcast widget, activity windows for the AIM and MSN platforms, social networking pages, emoticons, email & Powerpoint templates, business cards, and t-shirts, redesign of the company mascot, logos, color theme, and user-interface design. My position expanded to include product planning for the company’s multimedia widgets, and the co-founding & maintenance of the video game site, gamespleak.com. The great recession killed the company, like so many others, but it was a fun job!

Worked as photo issue room clerk in the Academy of Art’s Van Ness warehouse photo studio and the Sutter studios. Responsibilities included checking equipment out to students and faculty, operating and positioning the Chimera overhead light bank (a large rail-mounted soft box with 12 strobe heads), opening and closing the studios, helping photography students, fixing equipment, cleaning, inventory and repair of equipment between semesters, and various office tasks.

Worked as a photographer for the Columbus Ohio branch - and later the Hayward California branch - of Auto Trader magazine. Took photos of customers' vehicles for Trader Publications' various magazines (ie: Auto Trader, Truck Trader, Tradin' Times, Cycle Trader, Classic Car Trader, etc). Also helped customers to place ads for the magazines, utilizing various keywords and formatting to emphasize the traits of their vehicle. I currently work on an on-call basis, helping to run the booth at auto shows, as occur.

Worked as a lab assistant in University of Toledo’s student photo lab. Responsibilities included operating the Jobo film processor and Hope C-41 print processor, checking equipment out to students, mixing B&W chemicals, helping photography students, running errands, opening and closing the lab, and various office tasks.
