About Evan Anderson
Evan Anderson received his BS in Biomedical Engineering (BME) with a concentration in Material Science and a minor in Psychology from Johns Hopkins University in 1998. There he conducted research for the FDA and assessed bone screw designs at Union Memorial Hospital. As an intern at Johnson and Johnson, Evan evaluated new materials for Internal Sanitary Protection products. While pursuing his MS degree in BME at Case Western Reserve University, Evan researched heart valves mechanics at the Cleveland Clinic Foundation. For his graduate thesis he designed a heart valve fatigue tester. As an R&D engineer at Guidant (later Boston Scientific) beginning in 2001, Evan worked on development of a next generation AAA graft, development of a new proximal anastomosis clip for bypass surgery, and assist devices to treat Atrial Fibrillation. Evan left temporarily in 2004 to do research in medical device innovation at the Stanford Biodesign Program and to work as a Biomedical Engineer at the FDA. After coming back to Guidant, Evan completed ten classes at Stanford University and received a Certificate in Product Creation and Innovative Manufacturing.Starting in September 2006, Evan led a project within the New Therapies group of Maquet Cardiovascular (formerly Boston Scientific). While flushing out unmet clinical needs related to heart valves, Evan developed a strategy for Maquet to enter into this space. Evan led development of a multifunctional team on a minimally invasive valve product through chronic animal studies and up to design freeze for first in man. In August of 2008, Evan joined Spiracur, a start-up in the wound care space, as R&D Manager. Evan led the team that launched Spiracur's first product in the fall of 2009. He transitioned to sales in 2010 to become the fifth account executive and then moved into the role of distribution manager. In May 2013 Evan left Spiracur to pursue his next medical device opportunity.
