About Anthony Evans

I returned to the Island in 2005 after nearly 2 years of traveling around the world and experiencing different cultures. This time away enabled me to re-evaluate my choice of career in the finance sector. I could see that there were issues our Community faced and so upon my return I began volunteering with The Inclusion Project run by The Jersey Youth Service and as a Befriender for Autism Jersey.I have spent a short time as a trustee for the charity Autism JerseyI set up New Horizons Support Services after many discussions with individuals and their carers, reading reports by the States of Jersey and observing the changing needs of our local community, showed the need for a Service Provider who could provide a Person Centred Approach to Social Care in Jersey.I have worked for 9 years in the Health and Social Care sector in a variety of settings, including Residential Care, Day Services and the Voluntary Third Sector. This has provided me with first-hand experience of the issues service users and their parents/carers face. In this time I have developed networks with various Community services and local service providers. In these roles I have worked with a wide range of people with Special Needs, from those with profound physical needs, to people who require highly structured programmes and higher ratios of staffing. I have worked on complex transitions from the school environment into Adult Services. I am experienced in creating Life Skills programmes and also staff training programmes for projects supporting individuals with Autistic spectrum conditions.I have developed daily activity programmes and communication tools, have experience writing Care Plans, Risk Assessments and Person Centred Plans. I also have experience in organising and running Activity Days and Service User holidays.
