I work strategically, across the University and with our partner Kaplan Open Learning to ensure that our online education portfolio is delivering value to the University's global mission and creating exceptional experiences and outcomes for our students. I the launch manager for the UK’s first broadcast support team to serve the combined audiences of BBC and independent local radio and television stations across the North West, and the Co-ordinator of the largest ever pan-European radio campaign of its kind. Having moved into to the legal sector in 1996, I found the same commitment to serving communities and supporting vulnerable people. I was one of the first non-lawyer managers to be appointed as a director of a solicitor's practice in England and Wales. I have extensive experience of law firm development and operations as well as managing and delivering significant business improvement programmes. My absolute passion is helping people and organisations to unlock potential and improve their reach and impact. I am a strategic leader, innovator and problem solver, working purposefully and collaboratively across organisational and disciplinary boundaries to create new sources of value and continually raise the bar on performance and possibility. I have been immensely privileged to work alongside some superb teams and to help those organisations achieve their commercial and service aspirations.

We developed the firm into a highly respected niche practice, specialising in serious personal injury claims and medical negligence law, including some of the largest class actions in British medical history. Personal achievements include my role in securing finance for the new business during unprecedented adverse market conditions, marketing including full rebrand, website and social media channels, development of a bespoke case management system for fast-track RTA and improved workflows for other worktypes, upgrading performance management systems and acheiving LExcel accreditation. The firm was acquired by Slater and Gordon (UK) plc in August 2013.

A fantastic year co-ordinating "Play Safe in Europe" - the biggest ever pan-European radio campaign of its kind; raising awareness of HIV and AIDS.During my year of responsibilty I doubled the campaign participation to over 650 radio and tv stations across 35 countries, from MTV to free and independent community radio networks. As well as our trademark "Valentines Day Card" we produced a broadcast CD and a handbook for journalists about the responsible reporting of HIV and AIDS, launched at a 4 day training workshop in Bordeaux, France attended by our National Co-ordinators from across Europe.

Having initially secured an admin support role, I worked my way up to lead Radio City's flagship social action broadcasting unit (a CSV Media project), with responsibility for all broadcasting output including live and pre-recorded content and off-air support services. Supported by the most fantastic team of employees and volunteers, and with the huge support of the Radio City team, we created weekly information campaigns on issues of social concern, which were broadcast throughout the daily programming schedule. . We produced supporting materials and operated an off air helpline "The Action Desk" which helped many, many people across the North West and North Wales with all kinds of problems and concerns. I was the launch manager of the North West Media Helpline - the first ever helpline serving audiences of a mix of commercial and BBC television and radio stations. We provided training and employment opportunities for the long term unemployed in Merseyside during a period of exceptionally high unemployment in the area and helped local organisations make the most of media opportunties. I also ran the Radio City All-Stars football team for a while .... Happy days :-)
