Senior Inhouse Designer

Melbourne, Australia

From not having any inhouse designers, I demonstrated the need, advantage and cost-saving an inhouse designer brings and a role was created for me. Within the next two years we continued to demonstrate the advantage of in-house designers that the inhouse studio expanded to three. I developed an in-depth knowledge of the $30B Shell brand, its 150 brand guidelines, sub-brands and products clearly demonstrated by my creative output for an average of 500 Shell briefs a year.My role involved creative output on internal and customer facing communications including posters, brochures, flyers, presentations, point of sale, eDMs, invites, direct mail, branding, signage, promotional items, packaging, uniform designs, illustrations, infographics, forecourt pump crowners, price board banners and wraps, fence signage, supporting web graphics, new product launches, and advertising. As well as providing the team advice on creative, design, production and external agencies.

Moore Australasia Limited On-Site At The Shell Company Of Australia

Melbourne, Australia

I operated as part of the onsite print room but positioned within the Shell office space working exclusively for Shell Australia billable by the hour (brought in average in excess of $200k p.a.). I also remained a constant focal point between the two companies during a period that saw a turnover of eight On-site Co-ordinators and seven Account Managers.Although originally avalable for the entire Shell Downstream business, my skill, passion and dedication to Shell was recognised and was moved to sit within Shell’s Fuels, Retail and Lubricants Marketing departments – liaisoning with senior management and staff – to become an integral part of the team offering creative design service with print knowledge.Increased the revenue and quantity of design requests being briefed in that a second full-time graphic designer was hired in November 2010 to meet with Shell’s demands. I was responsible for writing the employment ad, shortlisting over 75 applications, interviewing and selecting the successful candidate. Plus integrating them into the Shell environment, setting up their workstation and computer and managing and overviewing both them and their design work.
