About Ewa Markiewicz

I hold PhD in Biochemistry and my professional experience has been built in the area of molecular dermatology through independent and collaborative research. My area of research stems from the molecular and cellular mechanisms underlying human degenerative disorders with specific focus on premature ageing of the integumentary system including skin, hair and subcutaneous adipose tissue. Specific interests focus on the molecular mechanisms of cellular interactions with stress-inducing environment as part of the innate responses that could also promote protection and regenerative repair. I am presently involved in expanding knowledge in these areas through both in vitro studies based on cell technologies and theoretical framework for in-silico platform technologies. The research draws on the translational applications of natural bio-active compounds (NBC) in personalized skincare as well as novel avenues exploring a role of the skin in nutrition and neuro-protection. We apply the next generation databases and artificial intelligence modelling approach for development of novel interventions in vivo. Throughout my work I secured substantial external basic and translational collaborative research income from national and international funding bodies, government and commercial organizations. I also published peer reviewed articles mostly as first, senior and corresponding author leading to novel areas of development (h-index 11). Presently I am involved in both academic research and building working relationships with innovative businesses in life sciences and healthcare sector and heading a research laboratory.
