About Liz Whitmere

Liz is an experienced digital series producer, writer, editor, and filmmaker. She produced her first short film, the critically-acclaimed This Is Not What You Had Planned, and discovered a love of producing. This led her to associate producing the Canadian Screen Award-winning The Neddeaus of Duqesne Island (CBC Gem), one of the most-viewed series on the CBC digital comedy platform.Shifting gears, Whitmere directed the Bell Fibe talk show Rapping With Actors, which profiled Canadian celebrities in an unconventional, comedic format. Since then she has shepherded several digital series through development, among them Hit On Me, which won the pitch competition at the Just For Laughs ComedyPro conference. Her film directorial debut, Up To Here, is a comedic reality-bending exploration of one woman’s unsuccessful search for mental solitude. She was the Co-Executive Producer on Late Night in the Studio for CBC Gem and joined a new show by Zarqa Nawaz (Little Mosque on the Prairie) as Senior Producer on Season 1 and director on Seasons 1 & 2. ZARQA S1 is currently available on CBC Gem and YouTube. She is Executive Producer alongside True West Film's Elizabeth Yake on a new CSA-winning series created by Aisha Evelyna and Daniela Pagliarello called The Drop, now available to stream on Narcity's YouTube channel. In April, Liz directed the DGC-award nominated COLD, a darkly comedic body horror film about a woman who died last week but didn't notice. COLD stars Melanie Scrofano, Sean Baek, and Peter Keleghan and is currently on its festival run.Liz is an alum of the 2022-2023 cohort of Women in the Directors Chair Story & Leadership Program.
