TL;DR: I like making software simple, fast, and secure. It's been a big part of my professional development.Time to brag a bit, I guess:In 6yrs I've gone from Linux enthusiast working the helpdesk to being a Systems Engineer IV leading a team of developers and devops personnel on complex projects with a mix of legacy and greenfield code, working to make not only our software, but our processes streamlined, well documented, discoverable, extensible, and fault tolerant while generally becoming simpler and smaller as well.* I built system config management tooling to push/pull updates to a fleet of 1600 remote devices, capable of doing a full backup of the fleet in a matter of minutes instead of hours.* I built a system capable of scanning our networks from an external address for improper configs that would email reports to the relevant team on a configurable interval.* I've taught myself how to build systems in C and gave a talk at EuroBSDCon 2018 in Bucharest, Romania, on one of my first tools, dfbeadm, that creates system-wide filesystem snapshots for one of my favorite operating systems, DragonFly BSD.* I helped lead a team to victory in Cisco's Smart Spaces Hackathon 2019.* A coworker and I worked to build a lightweight, scalable CRM built entirely in PostgreSQL, that allowed both friendly command-line access and had a web interface powered by Django.I'm always looking for the next set of challenges and while my free time has been short lately, I've been using it to improve my fork of the es(1) shell that I've called "nxes", and I plan to use those lessons one day in making my own exokernel OS.
