Profile bio

About Fabi Van Berkel

My mission is to support the transition to a regenerative and just system and build resilient neighbourhoods and environments in which life can thrive. ‘Creating regenerative systems is not simply a technical, economic, ecological or societal shift: it has to go hand-in-hand with an underlying shift in the way we think about ourselves, our relationships with another and life as a whole’ (Warden, 2020). To collectively walk this path is challenging, but I am dedicating my efforts to this and willing to work with anyone who wants to join this journey.Because of my wide expertise and experience, I have the ability to approach complex challenges systemically and holistically, but also keep an eye out on details that matter. To reach systemic change it is necessary to focus on the small significant steps that can lead to large shifts. I get energized by collectively working on these steps, learning with and supporting multi-disciplinary teams in which various types of perspectives and knowledge are combined. My knowledge is based in governance, institutions, (economic) value, urban and environmental planning. I apply systemic, strategic and design thinking to problem solving. I am a sensible and reflective listener, a good planner & organiser and have strong (interpersonal) communicative skills. I have organised over 25 group sessions (thinkthanks, learning sessions, public talks etc.), have delivered results for more than 12 (complex) projects & programs and developed tools that support practitioners, like the Omgevingscanvas or the Toolbox Multiple Value Creation. I am continuously growing in these activities and currently focused on developing my facilitation, writing, storytelling and leadership skills.

Listed skills include Spatial Planning, Environmental Awareness, Environmental Policy, Urban Planning, and 7 others.
