It was designed for highly motivated high school and undergraduate students who have demonstrated an academic interest in the biomedical sciences. Selected interns had the opportunity to personalize their own summer projects, while being mentored by AMI-USC professionals. Despite being one of the youngest interns, Fabiana adjusted quickly and learned about the healthcare innovation and investment process and developed critical thinking skills with respect to biomedical innovation. Fabiana and her two teammates worked on a mobile app for enhancing brain functions with AI-enabled selection of nature sound recommendations for different daily activities with an option of a wearable neckband speaker that sends feedback to the app. Fabiana focused on primary market research and created a series of stylish mockups that demonstrated various app features. Furthermore, she creatively introduced a detailed persona to make the app more realistic and relatable during her presentation. Despite the team facing a unique challenge due to being so spread apart on the globe - located in Peru, west coast of USA, and Morocco, Fabiana and her teammates did a fantastic job and won the "Most Compelling Pitch" prize for their presentation. They were determined to focus on improving wellbeing in the midst of the pandemic and followed through to make the project a success. Fabiana learned the value of teamwork and gained confidence to step out of her comfort zone when necessary to gain valuable knowledge and experience."
