LOG OFF is a youth-led, youth-run nonprofit organization committed to helping young people build healthy relationships with social media and digital devices, fostering well-being and balance through mindful tech use. We aim to empower young people worldwide to take control of how they engage with social media and digital devices while also becoming advocates for mindful tech use and wellness.
The LOG OFF Movement was founded in June 2020 by Emma Lembke, then a high school senior. Inspired by her personal struggle with social media usage and its negative impact on her mental health, Emma recognized a critical gap in youth representation in social media advocacy. In response, she launched LOG OFF to elevate and empower youth voices in this crucial dialogue.
Since its inception, LOG OFF has been dedicated to addressing the complexities of social media and its impact on younger generations. Our efforts span a range of initiatives, including advocacy campaigns, the development of a supportive youth community, the production of a podcast, and the launch of The Network, our online newspaper.
Over the past four years, our movement has grown and evolved. We are now led by a core team of eight passionate young individuals, working alongside a diverse group of young people from across the United States and around the world. Together, we strive to combat the lack of connection and the mental health challenges stemming from unhealthy social media use among today's youth.
