About Fabian Castro

I am a code-switching Latin American Houstonian-turned-New Yorker that is curious about communities, and I love to help companies understand and market to communities more effectively and with integrity. For the past 11 years, I have been playing at the intersection of marketing and innovation, largely in the Tech, Media, CPG, and Entertainment categories. I have worked as a strategist and marketer with the biggest brands and start-ups to launch new products, develop marketing campaigns, and conduct consumer research to inform marketing and product opportunities. I help empower brands to become leaders in their space by contributing to and building for the communities they hope to impact, and by exploring emerging tech platforms that allow them to more creatively engage with those communities. As a hobbyist photographer and cofounder of a dance music record label, I am always present to the dominant and niche trends in world around me, and I frequently translate that cultural curiosity into insights on consumer trends, brand marketing and product development. While I enjoy working autonomously, my day-to-day typically involves leading an analytically-driven team and collaborating with and across teams to drive measurable impact for companies, ensuring I can inspire integrity, rigor, and creativity in the work. Some highlights of my career include: developing a campaign that connected mental health and history to bring 20M new gardeners to Scotts Miracle-Gro in 2020; bringing a global LFC community closer to the team they love with NFTs and raising £1.125m for the soccer club and their nonprofit; developing the strategy for Spotify to bring live ticketing experience to market; led the planning for Buchanan's Scotch-Whiskey, helping the brand become “shortest time on shelf” liquor, one of Diageo’s fastest growing brands, and ultimately sign J. Balvin as brand ambassador before his popularity explosion in 2015.I'm also very proud of my Peruvian roots and the innovation the indigenous Americans are not often credited for, how I have created a respected record label my ability to leverage my love for niche music, and for surfing in the middle of the winter in New York, and for still being able to kickflip all these years later.Please note: I use LinkedIn to maintain relationships with colleagues and people I have worked with.
