My passion is improving operational public service delivery (health, justice, LAs, etc). My proudest achievements include doubling the prosecution of sexual offenders at the Ministry of Justice and improving neonatal safety by introducing patient-adjusted safety scoring algorithms in Australia.I have 20 years experience delivering strategic projects. I thrive when data is involved and new thinking is required. Perhaps the situation is new, ambiguous, or current attempts aren't delivering.Example roles for me include Director of Strategic Projects in a health company, Senior Advisor (Delivery) to a minister or CEO, or Propositions Director in an B2G analytics company. To deliver, I bring a toolkit of data, tech, strategy, investment, and implementation leadership:On data, I get data to tell its story. I align a board or top team by using data to move past endless discussions while avoiding analysis paralysis. I lead analytics teams by bridging business need with the art of the possible.On tech, as a former C# software developer, I translate between tech- and business- speak, quickly assessing technical feasibility of proposed solutions. And I see past jargon and bluster to assess technology risk properly.On strategy, as a former McKinsey consultant, I ask the challenging questions: will this strategy move the needle? Is it deliverable?On investment, I've advised on and led >15 transactions, so always have an eye on the numbers. I can lead business case development and can still get my hands dirty. In May, I built a financial model in a day to take to investors.On implementation, I believe strategy and delivery can never truly be split. As advisor to the Deputy PM, I brought the 'simple rigours' of SMART goals, plans on a page, and KPIs to the Foreign Office and Ministry of Justice.On leadership, I have led dozens of teams of up to 60 people. As a leader I emphasise development, constructive support, and honesty.I believe in inclusivity. I launched McKinsey’s Senior Leadership Masterclass for LGBT executives and was a Director at the Sydney Gay & Lesbian Counselling Service.
